About the position

The Content Strategist for WVU Online will lead and execute content creation efforts for various online programs, focusing on crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. This role involves building relationships across campus and developing impactful stories that highlight the unique aspects of WVU's online offerings. The ideal candidate will be a creative storyteller adept at translating these aspects into engaging content for multiple marketing channels.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and produce content that reflects WVU and WVU Online's brand voice.
  • Create SEO-optimized content to enhance program visibility on search engines.
  • Develop a consistent pipeline of content ideas by meeting with online academic programs.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and program leaders to uncover content opportunities.
  • Conduct interviews with students, faculty, and alumni to craft engaging blogs and articles.
  • Build and implement a social media strategy promoting online programs and success stories.
  • Monitor social media channels for content opportunities and collaborate with campus partners.
  • Assist in recruiting and managing relationships for the online student ambassador program.
  • Coordinate with campus departments to cross-promote content on social media.
  • Develop and maintain an editorial calendar aligned with seasonal campaigns.
  • Curate visual content to complement written stories and enhance engagement.
  • Develop scripts and outlines for video features showcasing programs and experiences.
  • Collaborate with multimedia teams to produce visually compelling content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or Communications.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in content creation, digital marketing, or social media.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple content formats.
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and experience optimizing content.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms and creating aligned content.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage an editorial calendar.
  • Knowledge of AP style and adaptability to WVU's content guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to function with independent judgment and professionalism.

  • Ability to travel to campus and off-campus locations as necessary.
