About the position

The Content Tutor at the University of Texas at Austin is responsible for providing academic support to student-athletes, helping them master course-specific content through one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions. The role emphasizes encouraging critical thinking and understanding of course materials while maintaining academic integrity and compliance with university policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist student-athletes in mastering course-specific subject content through tutoring appointments.
• Encourage academic success by discussing lecture notes and course texts.
• Guide student-athletes to think critically about course materials.
• Answer questions and pose additional questions to deepen understanding of concepts.
• Complete brief written reports of tutoring sessions and maintain communication with full-time staff.
• Maintain academic integrity and follow university policies and procedures.
• Act ethically and seek guidance when unsure of laws or policies.
• Participate in assigned education and training programs.
• Report knowledge of violations of laws or university policies to appropriate authorities.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of course-specific subject content.
• Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes.
• Experience in tutoring or academic support roles.
• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and university policies.
