About the position

As a Content Writer at Homes.com, a subsidiary of CoStar Group, you will join a dynamic and motivated team dedicated to producing high-quality content that informs and engages consumers in the real estate market. Your primary responsibility will be to research and write about various aspects of cities, neighborhoods, schools, and parks across the United States, creating local guides and video scripts that assist homebuyers in their decision-making process. This role is pivotal in helping prospective buyers discover communities that suit their needs and preferences, ultimately driving their residential real estate choices. In this position, you will conduct thorough research, which includes telephone interviews with real estate agents and local residents to gain insider perspectives on neighborhoods. You may also undertake occasional site visits to gather firsthand information, ensuring that the content you produce is both accurate and insightful. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with editors to maintain a consistent brand voice across all content and coordinate with various teams, including voiceover, photo, and video, to create cohesive narratives that align with project directives. Managing multiple projects at different stages of production will be a regular part of your responsibilities, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Your contributions will not only enhance the Homes.com brand but also play a significant role in shaping the future of homebuying experiences in the digital marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Research and report on cities, neighborhoods, schools, and parks to write local guides and video scripts for prospective home buyers.
  • Conduct telephone interviews with real estate agents and others to capture an insider's view of neighborhoods across the country.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to meet with member agents and neighborhood residents to gather first-hand research for local guides.
  • Work with editors to ensure that a consistent brand voice is delivered across all content.
  • Collaborate across a variety of teams including voiceover, photo, and video to produce cohesive content and ensure narratives, scripts, and shot lists sync with the project's directives.
  • Manage concurrent projects at a range of stages, from concept through production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, creative writing, English, marketing, or communications from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college.
  • 3-5 years of writing/editing experience.
  • Evidence of strong academic performance in college.
  • Experience following Associated Press Stylebook (AP Stylebook) guidelines.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality content adhering to deadlines and deliverables.
  • Strong research skills, including first-party telephone interviews, to develop content.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent grammar and spelling.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task assignments through multiple stages of production.
  • Highly collaborative team player.
