About the position
The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) is seeking a passionate and skilled Content Writer to join its dynamic Marketing Team in Stamford, CT. This full-time position is designed for a creative individual who possesses strong digital marketing skills and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Content Writer will be responsible for developing engaging, effective, concise, and informative copy across various marketing channels to support AIFS' strategic plan. This role is crucial in reaching and educating AIFS' U.S.-facing audiences for its diverse lines of business. In this position, the Content Writer will collaborate closely with staff from each division within AIFS and will report directly to the Director of Marketing. The primary focus will be on producing original, clear, and persuasive copy tailored for multiple audiences across different channels, including web and landing pages, blog posts, email communications, print materials, press releases, video scripts, and digital advertising. The writer will also be responsible for editing existing content for spelling, grammar, tone of voice, and brand alignment, ensuring that all materials meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. Additionally, the Content Writer will work in conjunction with the SEO Coordinator to implement best practices that enhance content visibility and drive organic traffic. This includes providing SEO-optimized meta content for websites and adapting content to suit various target audiences while maintaining the appropriate tone and style for each line of business. The role also involves researching competitors and staying updated on market trends, participating in special projects, and performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Producing original, clear, persuasive copy for multiple audiences across different channels including web and landing pages, blog posts, email communications, print materials, press releases and statements, video scripts, digital advertising, and more.
- Editing existing or provided copy for spelling, grammar, tone of voice, and brand alignment.
- Revising and optimizing content based on feedback from stakeholders to ensure effectiveness and accuracy.
- Collaborating with SEO Coordinator to ensure best practices are met and content ranks well in search engines and drives organic traffic.
- Working in conjunction with design teams to ensure copy and content prioritize the user experience.
- Adapting and tailoring content to suit different target audiences, maintaining the appropriate tone and style for each line of business.
- Providing SEO optimized meta content on websites.
- Researching competitors and staying on top of market trends.
- Participating in special projects and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 3 years of experience as a content writer, copywriter, or similar role in the digital marketing space
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and experience in applying them to content creation
- Ability to switch between different tones and writing styles to cater to diverse audiences
- Ability to write both long-form and short-form copy
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities to meet deadlines
- Experience with copywriting and content development for UX
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Creative self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team
- Working knowledge of tools such as Microsoft 365, Monday.com, SEMrush, WordPress, and Yoast
- Hands-on experience with content management systems (WordPress, etc.)
