About the position

The HR Specialist - Benefits position is a part-time role focused on providing expert direction and management in the analysis and resolution of complex issues related to benefits administration. This position operates with a high degree of independence and is responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of resources used for instructional functions within the HR Service Center. The specialist will act as a subject matter expert in benefits, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, and will work closely with various stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert direction and management in benefits administration and learning management system support.
  • Evaluate and determine employee eligibility and leave history within required time frames.
  • Communicate approvals, denials, and other important information regarding leaves of absence.
  • Develop sustainable and efficient processes for the HR Service Center.
  • Conduct research to ensure data completeness and respond to unresolved questions objectively.
  • Facilitate meetings with HR and cross-functional teams to provide leave of absence statistical data and develop recommendations.
  • Maintain case management technology to log case issues and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Perform administrative activities including completion of processed forms and conducting data integrity audits.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources and Health & Welfare Benefits implementation.
  • 4-5 years of progressive experience in a benefits Analyst/Coordinator/Specialist role in a high-volume work environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in vendor management and HRIS required.
  • Familiarity with Workday, Kronos, and PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Strong analytic, problem-solving, judgment, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience managing leaves through technology solutions.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
