About the position

The Continuing Education Copywriter/Editor at Howard Community College (HCC) is a part-time role focused on providing copywriting, editing, research, and marketing support for the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. The position requires a creative communications professional who can produce engaging print and digital content while ensuring consistency with the college's style guide. The role involves working under the supervision of the Continuing Education Marketing Manager and requires strong writing, editing, and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the copywriter for the division's marketing communications including publications, direct mail pieces, postcards, direct marketing emails, e-newsletters, fliers, and success stories.
  • Write clear marketing copy that informs, persuades, and promotes the division's programs.
  • Assist with editing and proofreading materials to best communicate information, tell stories, and market the division and its offerings.
  • Assist with CEWD webpage edits and copywriting as needed.
  • Assist with the publication of division-wide courses to the college's website.
  • Ensure consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone) in marketing materials to align with the college's style guide.
  • Assist with developing social media content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Associate's degree will be considered with 3+ years of experience.
  • Proficient in the Constant Contact Digital and Email Marketing Platform.
  • Well versed in AP style.
  • Strong writing, editing, and data analysis skills.
