About the position

The Continuity of Operations Plan Coordinator I at the University of Central Florida plays a crucial role in supporting the development and maintenance of the University's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). This position is essential for ensuring that the University can maintain mission-critical operations in the event of emergencies or disasters. The coordinator works closely with various departments to create and manage plans, policies, and procedures related to COOP, thereby enhancing the University's preparedness and resilience against various threats.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the ongoing development of the University's COOP plan.
  • Serves as the custodian for the University's enterprise-level policy on COOP.
  • Develops training programs to support the COOP program.
  • Assists university units with conducting a Business Impact Analysis (BIA).
  • Works with Department Continuity Coordinators to develop and manage the COOP plan for their respective department, college, or unit.
  • Coordinates the identification of emergency resources across the university, and assists departments in establishing emergency contracts for logistical needs during an emergency operations center activation.
  • Develops partnerships and mutual aid agreements as it relates to COOP.
  • Compiles the University's COOP plan for annual submission to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
  • Serves as the Logistic Section Chief in response to disasters, emergencies, and special events on campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of emergency management, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Exceptional technical writing skills, preferably in an emergency management capacity, with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, crisis management, or related discipline.
  • One year of experience as an emergency management practitioner.
  • FEMA classes IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, G-300 & G-400 and FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certificate preferred.
  • Experience with BC in the Cloud or other business continuity and disaster recovery platforms/software.
  • Expertise in creating and presenting material to all levels, including executives.
  • Proficiency with using standard office software applications including Microsoft Office.
