About the position

The Continuous Improvement Engineer at Metromont is responsible for leading process improvement initiatives within the organization. This role involves mentoring associates in lean methodologies, advocating for cultural changes to support continuous improvement, and identifying opportunities for enhancement in operational processes. The engineer will work closely with plant management to provide technical support and ensure adherence to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement teams to achieve desired results
  • Mentor Metromont associates in lean principles and methodologies
  • Provide information and technical support to plant management as needed
  • Advocate changes in culture needed to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and present those opportunities to department heads for consideration and action
  • Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related technical field, or 5 years' experience in a continuous improvement role within a manufacturing organization
  • Knowledgeable of TPS (Toyota Production System) principles of Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledgeable of Toyota Kata
  • Demonstrates strong personal organization practices
  • Demonstrates proficiency in project management driving efficiency and waste elimination
  • Deadline-oriented and able to coordinate multiple projects
  • Able to lead cross-functional teams
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical thinker with above average problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Able to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes
  • Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors
