About the position

The Continuous Improvement Lead - Engineering at Michael Foods Inc. is responsible for assisting the Continuous Improvement Engineer in driving continuous improvement initiatives within the plant. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting operational efficiency and financial performance. The position requires a blend of office and floor work to effectively implement improvement strategies and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Continuous Improvement Engineer (CIE) in identifying continuous improvement opportunities through critical thinking.
  • Assist CIE with cross functional continuous improvement teams in the plant.
  • Assist CIE with collecting necessary data to develop speed profiles.
  • Assist CIE and Training Coordinator with updating process parameter standards to support a centerline methodology.
  • Work closely with plant CIE to drive and deliver positive results on operations efficiency and the plant financials.
  • May assist the production team when needed during special projects or general production.
  • Data collection as required to be able to drive focused priorities.
  • Assist in maintaining shift reports with plant CIEs and report out any errors on shift reports further improvement.
  • Oversee various components of the Redzone Production platform.
  • Assist in coaching operations teams in various Redzone meetings to evolve the Management Operation System.
  • Document process flows and collect appropriate data from the floor.
  • Adhere to safe work practices regarding food safety and human safety.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that displays professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a relevant field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work well with all levels and be a team player.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programs such as SAP, BW, and Tableau.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams during floor level RCA events.
  • Familiarity with CI tools including 5Why and RCA Problem Solving, 5S, and Centerlining.
