About the position

The Continuous Improvement Production Manager is a pivotal role within the Operations team, specifically designed to enhance operational performance through the application of Operational Excellence tools. This position is based in Lakewood, NJ, and is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity that requires the individual to work onsite from Monday to Friday. The primary focus of this role is to drive business transformation by implementing strategies that maximize value and eliminate waste across various departments. The Continuous Improvement Production Manager will work closely with vendors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and consultants to ensure that operational processes are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness. In this role, the Continuous Improvement Production Manager will foster a culture of “Safety First, Quality Always,” emphasizing the importance of safety and quality in all operational activities. The individual will interact directly with frontline personnel, which may include union members, and will have the potential to manage a team of direct reports depending on the scope of assigned tasks. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think critically to make sound judgments that benefit the organization. The Continuous Improvement Production Manager will be responsible for driving focused business transformation initiatives through dedicated change teams or Kaizen events. This includes providing coaching to shop floor employees, supervisors, and operational support teams to enhance their skills and knowledge. The role also involves maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, and yields, all while reducing overall operating costs and enhancing quality. Additionally, the manager will assist in training operations and maintenance personnel as needed and mentor less experienced team members to cultivate a Lean Culture within the organization. Collaboration with the Operations Director and OpEx senior leadership is essential to align Key Performance Indicators and ensure the deployment of Operational Excellence tools that are consistent with Lean Principles. Furthermore, the Continuous Improvement Production Manager will ensure that departmental goals are in alignment with the site’s strategic objectives and will support client and regulatory agency audits as required. A thorough understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP) is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Life Sciences or a related industry
  • Excellent Leadership and Coaching Skills
  • Experience with Lean or Operational Excellence Transformation
  • Excellent tech writing and problem solving skills
  • BS in Life Science or Engineering Preferred
