About the position

The Continuous Improvement Specialist 2 at Qarbon Aerospace is responsible for leading Operational Excellence (OPEX) activities aimed at enhancing the efficiency of systems and processes within the organization and with external partners. This role involves educating team members and stakeholders on Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies, piloting new tools, and implementing lean manufacturing principles across various production and business processes. The specialist will also analyze data to recommend improvements and facilitate OPEX projects that have a significant impact on operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OPEX activities to improve efficiency of systems and processes.
  • Educate team members, suppliers, and customers on OPEX philosophies and methods.
  • Develop and customize continuous improvement methods for lean manufacturing.
  • Evaluate alternatives and recommend changes to enhance CI training and techniques.
  • Facilitate diverse OPEX projects with moderate-to-high scope and impact.
  • Guide CI teams in identifying waste and facilitating process evaluations.
  • Communicate Qarbon's lean manufacturing philosophies to stakeholders.
  • Analyze data to recommend priorities and actions for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement through benchmarking.
  • Research and recommend new methods to management.
  • Participate in OPEX goal setting and measurement for the site and suppliers.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through workshops and networking.
  • Prepare and conduct technical presentations on selected topics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
  • Six or more years of experience utilizing continuous improvement principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of continuous improvement principles and philosophies.
  • Proficient in training selection, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Ability to lead and implement continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to quantify results.
  • Knowledge of FAA standards and regulations, ATA standards, and other applicable regulations.
  • Familiarity with project management standards and techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or other relevant accreditations.
  • Experience leading Kaizen events or similar projects in manufacturing.
  • Understanding of lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping and 5S.
