About the position

The Contract Administration Engineer - Senior Engineer position at the State of Minnesota involves providing overall direction, management, supervision, and technical support to contract administration personnel on bridge and highway construction projects. The role includes administering assigned construction projects by performing necessary construction engineering and contract administration duties, as well as supervising MnDOT employees.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction and management to contract administration personnel on construction projects.
  • Administer assigned construction projects, ensuring compliance with engineering and contract administration standards.
  • Supervise assigned MnDOT employees involved in construction projects.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, businesses, elected officials, and other governmental entities regarding project specifics.
  • Negotiate change orders and facilitate meetings related to construction projects.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
  • A valid Class D driver's license is required.
  • Human relations skills to work cooperatively with various stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for providing direction and technical information.
  • Supervisory or leadwork experience to ensure timely completion of construction projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in materials, road/bridge contract administration, and general construction practices.
  • Experience negotiating with contractors and writing change orders.
