About the position

The Contract Administrative Aide for the Parks & Recreation department is responsible for assisting in the management of facility operations, including administrative tasks, public relations, and support for programming activities. This role requires working approximately 28 hours a week, including nights and weekends, and involves direct interaction with the public and children, particularly in recreational programming and special populations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with overseeing the facility operations including the Parks & Recreation catalog and registrations.
  • Perform secretarial duties such as answering phones and bookkeeping.
  • Input data into computer systems, process purchase orders, and check requests.
  • Maintain records, manage reservations, and schedule calendars.
  • Assist with programming activities and prepare public service announcements (PSAs).
  • Handle cash transactions and ensure accurate cash handling skills.
  • Provide professional public relations and clerical support as needed.
  • Work with children and individuals with developmental disabilities in recreational programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within sixty (60) days of hire.
  • Computer skills including typing and operation of office equipment.
  • Public relations skills and ability to deal with the public professionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of recreational programming preferred.
  • Experience working with children and individuals with disabilities.
