About the position

The Contract Administrator plays a crucial role in the procurement process within a healthcare environment, responsible for coordinating the purchase of commodities, equipment, services, and contracts. This position involves investigating alternatives, reviewing cost-effectiveness, soliciting bids, and negotiating with vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the purchase of commodities, equipment, services, and contracts as assigned.
  • Investigate alternatives and review cost-effectiveness of purchases.
  • Solicit bids and negotiate with vendors to obtain the best value for money.
  • Develop cooperative working relationships with Health System personnel and vendors.
  • Expedite, verify orders, and resolve purchasing discrepancies.
  • Prepare cost savings reports and other reports requiring business mathematics and Excel spreadsheet skills.

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of procurement experience in a hospital environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with courses in purchasing, business law, economics, or marketing.
  • Two years of experience as a buyer in a healthcare facility or comparable experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with various personnel and vendors.
  • Ability to calculate discounts and prepare cost savings reports using business mathematics and Excel.
  • Familiarity with computerized purchasing systems and basic keyboard skills (40-50 wpm).
  • Extensive use of spreadsheet and database programs for maintaining purchasing databases and generating reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong experience in contract management and sourcing.
  • ERP knowledge, particularly with Oracle Cloud.
