About the position

The Contract Management Analyst will be responsible for reviewing power contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and conducting detailed analyses related to contract performance. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external counterparties to address contract issues and support negotiations for new contracts. The position aims to enhance the efficiency of the Contract Management process through continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough independent review of power contracts and related documents, identifying critical information or patterns.
  • Monitor contracts' compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, reporting on performance to internal parties and regulatory agencies.
  • Produce detailed Contract Summaries and Scheduling/Dispatch protocols; identify potential contractual issues and solutions.
  • Investigate contract questions/issues raised by clients and perform complex numerical analyses related to power contracts' capacity and energy costs.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding contract specifics and produce/update software tools that manage contract information.
  • Work with counterparties as contracts are modified, extended, or transitioned to new contracts by negotiators.
  • Support negotiators in developing and signing new contracts.
  • Represent the company in regulatory proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and CPUC, monitoring compliance reviews.
  • Constantly seek ways to improve the Contract Management process, including automation of reports and creation of a contract database.
  • Provide back-up support for other members of the Contract Management section.

Requirements

  • Contract management experience
  • Background in accounting or finance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Accounting
  • 1 - 3 years of experience working with contracts, preferably power contracts
  • Energy industry knowledge and understanding of energy & utility terms
  • Knowledge of California energy market
  • Understanding of CPUC and FERC regulatory framework
  • Familiarity with Enviance milestone tracking system
  • Familiarity with FileNet electronic document storage system
