About the position

The Contract Analyst in the Executive Unit of the Department of Justice plays a crucial role in supporting the Civil Law Division by performing a variety of complex technical and analytical legal contracting tasks. Under the direct supervision of the Civil Law Division Staff Services Manager I, the analyst is expected to demonstrate strong organizational skills, analytical abilities, and effective writing and communication skills. The position requires subject-matter expertise in civil procedure, contract law, and state procedures for purchasing goods and services, as well as a solid understanding of the State budget process. The incumbent will work independently to review and monitor contracts for the division, which includes identifying contracts that need to be disencumbered, those that can be closed, and contracts that are expiring and require renewal. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring the JUS 8800/JUS 8890 forms that have been approved, identifying anticipated fiscal year costs for fiscal monitoring, requesting status updates for contracts, processing invoices, and reviewing reports from the Contract Purchasing Unit and Legal Contracts Unit. The role also involves assisting the Legal Division Manager and Chief Assistant with budgetary tasks or special reports as needed, and providing backup assistance to other staff within the Civil Law Division's Executive Unit. This position is essential for ensuring that the division's contracting processes are efficient and compliant with state regulations, thereby contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Department of Justice. The analyst will also be required to attend in-person meetings and training sessions as necessary, with advance notice provided whenever possible.

Responsibilities
