About the position

As an Associate Director at Howden Re, you will play a crucial role in creating, developing, and maintaining reinsurance contract documentation. This position requires a deep understanding of insurance and reinsurance concepts to assist broker teams with various projects, ensuring that contract wording accurately reflects the intent of negotiations. You will also provide technical guidance, participate in sales presentations, and foster relationships with brokers, clients, and reinsurers.

Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and maintain reinsurance contract documentation.
• Draft reinsurance contracts, interests and liabilities agreements, and related documents in coordination with brokers, clients, and reinsurers.
• Interpret and assess contracts and perform quality assurance reviews to ensure contract wording reflects the intent of reinsurance negotiations.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues, brokers, clients, and reinsurers regarding reinsurance concepts and contract language application.
• Participate in Request for Proposal and sales presentations by recommending coverage and wording enhancements.
• Promote, build, and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and reinsurers.
• Understand issues, resolve problems, and review working practices.
• Participate in department meetings to share opinions, ideas, knowledge, and solutions, and work to maintain best practices.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Four Year College Degree (B.S. or B.A.) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with reinsurance contracts.
• Extensive MS Word experience and expertise.
• Experience with Adobe and Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organization skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the US.

• Law Degree (J.D.) helpful but not required.
