About the position

The Contract Field Support position involves performing routine meter reading and related customer service tasks under the supervision of a designated supervisor. The role requires safe operation of a city vehicle and includes responsibilities such as reading water meters, maintaining meter hardware, and interacting with customers in person. The incumbent will work independently with periodic supervision, prioritizing tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine meter reading and related customer field service.
• Safely operate a City-issued vehicle to perform job duties.
• Replace meter boxes/lids as needed.
• Perform rereads of meters as needed.
• Prepare meters for replacement and replace meter heads as needed.
• Assist with routine Field Service functions.
• Interact and communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Attend training as assigned.
• Perform other field service duties as directed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must possess a valid State Driver's License and obtain a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of hire.
• General knowledge of principles of meter reading and mathematics.
• Skilled in written and oral communications.
• Ability to read and interpret maps.
• Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner.
