About the position

The Mortgage Loan Closer at Quorum Federal Credit Union is responsible for closing first and second mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines and regulations. This role requires strong communication and time management skills, as well as a keen attention to detail, to facilitate a smooth closing process and maintain high levels of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Closes first and second mortgage applications in accordance with secondary market/Credit Union guidelines.
  • Works with the lending team to maintain archiving of mortgage files.
  • Facilitates mortgage loan closing, including reviewing loan files and preparing closing instructions.
  • Funds mortgage loans ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Boards mortgage loans to third party sub-servicer, ensuring accurate and timely data transmission.
  • Monitors closing pipeline to identify areas requiring intervention to expedite the mortgage process.
  • Inputs and updates data into loan origination systems and ensures file integrity.
  • Submits mortgage loans through Desktop Underwriter and reviews automated underwriting conditions.
  • Interacts with assigned Loan Officer, Processor, and Underwriter to resolve file discrepancies.
  • Maintains a high level of customer service through proactive communication with all stakeholders.
  • Works with outside vendors and service providers to facilitate the loan process.
  • Supports Mortgage Operations area as necessary, including overflow support for Loan Submission and Loan Processing.
  • Identifies process improvements to automate and streamline operations.
  • Promotes a positive work atmosphere through professional communication.
  • Keeps abreast of industry developments, including changes in regulations and technology.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for degree.
  • Minimum of three years related experience in mortgage loan closing, with knowledge of TRID and non-QM regulations.
  • Knowledge of the mortgage process from origination to post-closing.
  • Detailed knowledge of secondary market guidelines and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making ability and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Results-driven, service-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Trustworthy with the ability to maintain a high level of integrity and trust.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Encompass preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Encompass software is highly preferred.
