About the position

The Contract Specialist will support Univar's North American business operations by assisting with the review and negotiation of various commercial agreements. This role requires a proactive individual who can work in a fast-paced environment, providing quality legal reviews and focusing on process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Review contracts per the Company's playbooks.
• Tag contract provisions and track review status using the Company's contract management system, Agiloft.
• Coordinate the review of subject matter experts when needed.
• Work with the commercial team to ensure identified areas of risk are appropriately addressed.
• Collaborate with other members in the legal department and contract stakeholders to resolve issues in applicable contracts.
• Assist with creating and updating contract templates and playbooks.
• Perform other related duties as required or requested.

Requirements

• Minimum undergraduate degree in business, law, or relevant field.
• 3-5 years of experience reviewing contracts, preferably a mix of law-firm and in-house experience.
• Demonstrable skill in negotiating and understanding contract provisions and risk allocation.
• Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to operate within a matrixed management environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Strong work ethic with the initiative to work independently.
• High level of integrity supported by sound judgment and ethics.
• Highly adaptable, self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning and improvement.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
