About the position

The Contract Specialist at Univar Solutions will support North American business operations by reviewing and negotiating various commercial agreements. This role requires a proactive individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, providing quality legal reviews with a focus on process improvement and practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Review contracts per the Company's playbooks.
• Tag contract provisions and track review status using the Company's contract management system, Agiloft.
• Coordinate the review of subject matter experts when needed.
• Work with the commercial team to address identified areas of risk.
• Collaborate with legal department members and other contract stakeholders to resolve contract issues.
• Assist in creating and updating contract templates and playbooks.
• Perform other related duties as required or requested.

Requirements

• Minimum undergraduate degree in business, law, or relevant field.
• 3-5 years of experience reviewing contracts, preferably a mix of law-firm and in-house experience.
• Demonstrable skill in negotiating and understanding contract provisions and risk allocation.
• Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to operate within a matrixed management environment.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Strong work ethic with initiative to work independently.
• High level of integrity supported by sound judgment and ethics.
• Highly adaptable and self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning and improvement.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
