The Technical Business Data Governance Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and quality of data within the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of data governance principles and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including business and technical subject matter experts (SMEs). The analyst will be responsible for gathering both business and technical requirements to effectively capture metadata and data lineage, which are essential for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the organization's data assets. In this role, the analyst will lead Data Domain and Data Steward Workgroup meetings, facilitating discussions that help identify Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and define data elements for the Business Glossary. This involves close collaboration with Data Domain Owners and SMEs to ensure that the definitions and business rules are accurately captured and aligned with the organization's data governance framework. The analyst will also work with metadata specialists to identify data sources and collaborate with data modelers to clarify the definitions of business terms versus technical terms. Utilizing data profiling and data quality tools, the analyst will expose and determine the causes of data quality issues, which is critical when defining business rules. The role also involves participating in metadata management activities using tools such as IBM Metadata Asset Manager and the IBM Information Governance Catalog to build out the business glossary. Additionally, the analyst will implement data governance controls, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and best practices are followed across the organization. The ability to develop and deliver presentations for department and senior leadership is also a key aspect of this position, as it will require communicating complex data governance concepts in a clear and concise manner.
