About the position

The Contract Technical Project Manager will oversee the final phase of installation for a new broadcast video production studio facility. This role involves managing project planning, execution, vendor management, stakeholder communication, risk management, quality assurance, and documentation to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and meets high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a detailed project plan, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the project from initial design and procurement to installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage various vendors and contractors involved in the project.
  • Oversee vendor performance and ensure adherence to contracts and specifications.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, risks, and issues to key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather requirements and ensure alignment.
  • Proactively identify and assess potential project risks and issues.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize project delays and disruptions.
  • Implement quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct thorough testing and inspections to ensure that the installed systems meet all technical and operational requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, schedules, budgets, contracts, and meeting minutes.
  • Create and deliver clear and concise project reports.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in managing complex technology infrastructure projects, ideally within the broadcast or media production industry.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast video production technology, including cameras, switchers, audio systems, lighting, networking, and post-production workflows.
  • Proven ability to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Experience in sourcing, negotiating with, and managing vendors and contractors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP or Prince2 certification
  • Experience with IP-based broadcast workflows
  • Experience with managing installation of technical infrastructure (structured cabling, facility electrics, etc)
  • Knowledge of current industry standards and best practices in broadcast/studio facility design.
