About the position

We are seeking a skilled Contract Technical Writer with a strong background in the manufacturing industry to join our team. This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel required to our client's site in Bethune, South Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of technical writing experience, specifically in creating system descriptions, standard operating procedures, and work instructions. You will be responsible for gathering information from subject matter experts, including engineers and equipment operators, to produce clear and concise documentation that adheres to technical writing best practices. In this role, you will work closely with our manufacturing clients to understand their processes and equipment, ensuring that the documentation you create accurately reflects their operations. Your ability to communicate effectively with technical personnel will be crucial in translating complex information into user-friendly documents. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential, as you will be managing multiple projects and deadlines. Most of your work can be performed remotely, allowing for flexibility in your schedule. However, you will be expected to travel to the client's site in Hartsville/Bethune, South Carolina, once or twice a month for meetings and to gather information directly from the manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Understanding of equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Word.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Availability to travel to Hartsville/Bethune, South Carolina once or twice a month.
  • Possession of a laptop.
