About the position
The Contractor Safety Specialist at BASF Corporation in Port Arthur, TX, is responsible for managing and improving contractor safety programs at the site. This role involves monitoring safety practices, enhancing contractor safety awareness, and supporting the achievement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) goals. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to foster a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring the protection of contractors and BASF assets.
Responsibilities
- Manage the contractor Safety Program for the site.
- Participate in contractor onboarding/pre-job kickoff meetings.
- Communicate BASF safety expectations to contractors.
- Conduct and oversee contractor audits and incident/injury reviews.
- Oversee contractor incident investigations.
- Build strong partnering relationships between sites and contractors.
- Drive safety process/performance improvements.
- Identify and share best practices.
- Report contractor monthly man hours.
- Review and maintain onsite contractor list.
- Review and update contractor onboarding information as needed.
Requirements
- 4+ years in an industrial safety role, working with contractors, strongly preferred.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Familiarity with EHS and applicable safety regulatory standards.
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills.
- Interpersonal understanding and customer focus.
