About the position

Tkxel is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer to design, deploy, and manage functional networks for enterprise-level clients. This remote position involves configuring and installing network devices, monitoring performance, resolving client issues, and leading team members. The role requires a strong focus on network security and performance improvements, utilizing advanced technologies and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy functional networks including software, switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Monitor network performance and integrity using diagnostic and analysis tools.
• Resolve client issues and support tickets from helpdesk or internal escalations.
• Automate tasks and monitor effectiveness of solutions.
• Lead and mentor team members on technical issues.
• Create and test security measures such as access authentication and disaster recovery plans.
• Communicate with team leads, stakeholders, and clients regarding deliverables.
• Create and maintain complete technical documentation.
• Develop and implement improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.
• Manage time effectively and assist on projects to keep deliverables on schedule.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience as a network engineer, with 2 years at a senior level.
• Expert knowledge of enterprise-level network design, engineering, and administration.
• Proficient in general-purpose scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• 2+ mid-level or 1 expert-level certification(s) from vendors like Extreme, Palo Alto, HPE, Cisco.
• Ability to solve network problems proactively and reactively.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical individuals and build client relationships.
• Experience in mentoring team members and providing training as required.
• Expertise in core infrastructure services including VLANs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and wireless technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with design and implementation of Extreme Networking Switching/Routing/Fabric.
• Experience with firewall migrations from SonicWall/ASA to Palo Alto/FortiGate.
• Experience with Citrix NetScalers and SDWAN solutions.
• Experience with monitoring solutions such as PRTG, LogicMonitor, or Solarwinds.
