About the position

The Contracts and Grants Specialist will manage a variety of responsibilities related to pre- and post-award contracts and grants administration. This includes proposal preparation, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with university and sponsor policies. The role requires a proactive approach to understanding the evolving requirements of contracts and grants, as well as effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage pre- and post-award contracts and grants administration.
  • Prepare and submit proposals, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with finance, accounting, contracts, and grants policies.
  • Assess financial commitments and resources for reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement accounting practices to meet organizational needs.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Advise constituents including funders and UCSF departments on grant management.
  • Respond to audit requests and keep management informed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in contracts and grants administration.
  • Knowledge of accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles.
  • Understanding of grant funding processes and research administration guidelines.
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of transactions and perform complex financial analysis.
  • Competence in spreadsheet and database software for financial management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of UCSF specific grant management processes.
  • Current knowledge of compliance regulations in research administration.
