About the position

The Contracts Assistant is a full-time professional role at Binghamton University, responsible for supporting the Contract Administrator in various contract-related tasks. This position involves contract preparation, coordination with legal and procurement teams, communication with stakeholders, tracking contract deadlines, data entry, reporting, and general administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in drafting and reviewing contracts to ensure they meet legal standards and company policies.
  • Working closely with legal teams, procurement departments, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate the contract approval process.
  • Serving as a point of contact for internal and external parties regarding contract-related inquiries and issues.
  • Monitoring contract timelines, renewals, and expiration dates, notifying review groups and relevant parties of upcoming deadlines.
  • Inputting contract data into management systems, generating reports, and analyzing contract metrics as required.
  • Handling general administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and managing communication related to contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Personal computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and in front of small and large groups
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize workload and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, use initiative, follow through, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree
  • Previous experience in contract processing
  • Previous experience with drafting contracts and technical documents
  • Familiar with a Procurement environment.
