About the position

The Control & Automation Engineer III at Harmac Medical Products is responsible for designing, developing, and testing control systems and components for automation and industrial systems. This role requires applying mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering principles to ensure the effective operation of medical device manufacturing processes. The engineer will also be involved in troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and training employees, while demonstrating the company's core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of control systems and components, equipment, and machinery.
  • Responsible for the installation and operational qualification of tool/jig, equipment, control system, PLC based hardware and software plus all associated documentation at all facility locations.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering, design software and equipment to perform assignments.
  • Applies principles and techniques of electrical/mechanical engineering to accomplish goals.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment.
  • Trains employees, identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders and replaces parts as needed.
  • Determines and recommends which products or services best fit the project needs.
  • Demonstrates Harmac's core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation or Controls Engineering, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, required.
  • 5-7 years related experience in the field or in a related field.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Proficient in competencies/skills such as Instrument Control, Performance Analysis, Power Management, Process Optimization, Reliability Analysis, Schematic Capture, Statistical Process Control, Technical Troubleshooting, Control Systems, Device Integration, SCADA Architecture, PLC, HMI, and CAE Software.

Nice-to-haves

  • PLC knowledge as well as Robotics training a plus.
  • Familiar with medical device equipment design concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • World-class manufacturing knowledge a plus.
