About the position

The Control Room Operations Coordinator Lead is responsible for overseeing the safe and reliable operation of the plant, ensuring that work is assigned and directed to employees on the same shift. This role involves facilitating safety meetings, coordinating with team leaders and engineers, and making real-time decisions during critical situations. The coordinator also provides leadership and mentorship to shift employees, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work and provide direction to employees on the same shift.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the plant.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Shift Safety meetings and Job Briefings.
  • Promote and ensure a safe work environment, including adherence to safety procedures.
  • Provide work direction for daily operations and maintenance activities.
  • Develop work packages with Team Leaders and Engineers for shift employees.
  • Make real-time decisions regarding equipment operation under critical situations.
  • Operate boiler, turbine, and generator manually during emergencies.
  • Perform startup and shutdown functions of equipment as required.
  • Ensure adequate shift coverage during unplanned absences after hours.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to shift employees.
  • Report on training activities to Team Leaders.
  • Oversee contractors during after-hours operations and maintenance.
  • Provide fill-in coverage for Operations Team Lead when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including OSHA and Environmental standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Boiler, Turbine, Generator operations.
  • Communicate with Energy Management Organization Dispatchers to meet system needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in power plant operations or maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of technology and computer use.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Ability to maintain and care for company equipment.
