About the position

The Control System Programming Specialist at Black & Veatch will develop and implement SCADA and plant control systems for water and wastewater facilities. This role involves creating control logic, performing testing and commissioning of control systems, and providing ongoing client support. The specialist will work closely with utility staff, contractors, and engineering firms to ensure project success while adhering to company standards and engineering codes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement SCADA and plant control systems for water and wastewater facilities
  • Develop control logic based on narrative control descriptions
  • Perform testing, startup, and commissioning of control systems
  • Coordinate with utility staff, contractors, and other engineering firms
  • Provide ongoing client support, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or in active pursuit of such registration

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or related field
  • Experience in PLC, RTU or HMI programming
  • Allen-Bradley Logix Platform, Schneider Electric Modicon M580/M340 or similar PLC experience
  • AVEVA Wonderware System Platform, Trihedral VTScada, GE iFIX, or similar HMI experience
  • Water/Wastewater experience
