About the position

The Control Systems Engineer III role at Amazon involves applying advanced mechatronics and robotics to enhance customer experiences. The position focuses on high-level support for control systems within Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs), including direct field engagement, commissioning, project management, and continuous improvement. The engineer will lead a team to maximize facility performance and reliability through strategic partnerships and data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.
  • Programming and source coding for in-house built solutions based in PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
  • Develop solutions related to Automation Systems.
  • Project Management of large-scale initiatives coordinating site-based Automation Engineers.
  • Apply Subject Matter Expertise on troubleshooting and support local teams in root cause investigations.
  • Create, optimize and monitor Key Performance Indicators for machine efficiency and quality.
  • Manage vendor relationships to coordinate ticket resolutions for local and network-wide issues.
  • Provide technical guidance for collaboration projects with other Amazon teams.
  • Ensure remote troubleshooting capability is available for 24/7 support.

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline or BS/BA with 4+ years' experience in maintenance or 2+ years Amazon experience.
  • Experience leading change management in multiple site environments.
  • Experience commissioning or accepting equipment from integrators.
  • Experience troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions.
  • 7+ years' experience working in industrial controls and automation.
  • Knowledge and experience with major MHE integrators.
  • Proven experience driving goals with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient data analyst and new processes developer/adapter.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to Lean Concepts, TOC, layout design, cost/benefit analysis, labor productivity analysis.
  • MBA or other Master's degree and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
  • Manufacturing or complex industry experience leading Controls.
