About the position

The Control Systems Engineer III role at Amazon involves leading a team of engineers to enhance the performance and reliability of control systems within Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs). This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to implement robust lifecycle management strategies, utilizing data analytics and structured problem-solving to optimize system performance and reduce operational costs.

Responsibilities

• Understand and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.
• Programming and source coding for in-house built solutions based in PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
• Develop solutions related to Automation Systems.
• Project Management of large-scale initiatives coordinating site-based Automation Engineers.
• Apply Subject Matter Expertise on troubleshooting and support local teams in root cause investigations.
• Create, optimize and monitor Key Performance Indicators for machine efficiency and quality.
• Manage vendor relationships to coordinate ticket resolutions for local and network-wide issues.
• Provide technical guidance for collaboration projects with other Amazon teams.
• Ensure remote troubleshooting capability is available for 24/7 support.

Requirements

• BS in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline or BS/BA with 4+ years' experience in maintenance or 2+ years Amazon experience
• Experience leading change management in multiple site environments
• Experience commissioning or accepting equipment from integrators
• Experience troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions
• 7+ years' experience working in industrial controls and automation
• Exhibit knowledge and experience with major MHE integrators
• Proven experience driving goals with minimal supervision
• Proficient data analyst and new processes developer/adapter

Nice-to-haves

• Exposure to Lean Concepts, TOC, layout design, cost/benefit analysis, labor productivity analysis
• MBA or other Master's degree and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
• Manufacturing or complex industry experience leading Controls
