About the position

The Control System Engineering team at Amazon is responsible for high-level support of control systems within fulfillment centers. This role involves direct field engagement, project management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the performance and reliability of automation systems. The position requires developing a team of engineers to implement robust lifecycle management approaches, utilizing data analytics and structured problem-solving to optimize operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.
  • Program and source code for in-house built solutions based on PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
  • Manage project activities for large-scale automation initiatives, coordinating site-based Automation Engineers.
  • Apply Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to troubleshoot engineering issues and support local teams in root cause analysis.
  • Create, optimize, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for machine efficiency and quality, generating reports for improvements.
  • Manage vendor relationships to coordinate resolution of local and network-wide issues.
  • Provide technical guidance for collaboration projects with other Amazon teams, supporting major network support requests.
  • Ensure remote troubleshooting capability is available for 24/7 support of hardware and controls software systems.

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or BS/BA with 4+ years' experience in maintenance or 2+ years Amazon experience.
  • Experience leading change management in multiple site environments.
  • Experience commissioning or accepting equipment from integrators.
  • 7+ years' experience working in industrial controls and automation.
  • Proficient data analyst and new processes developer/adapter.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to Lean Concepts, TOC, layout design, cost/benefit analysis, labor productivity analysis.
  • MBA or other Master's degree and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
  • Manufacturing or complex industry experience leading Controls.
