About the position

The Controls Specialist role at Caterpillar Inc. focuses on developing, debugging, and refining control software for fuel systems on diesel engines. This position requires a hands-on approach to optimize performance and reliability, involving both technical leadership and collaboration with various mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in designing advanced electrical control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
• Design and implement software and procedures to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices performance.
• Lead the design and prototyping of mechatronic devices with motors, solenoids, gears, sensors, and springs.
• Identify and address areas of product weakness in finished products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
• Extensive experience in communicating complex concepts effectively.
• Extensive experience in problem solving with knowledge of various approaches and techniques.
• Extensive experience in conceptual thinking and identifying critical ideas and interdependencies.
• Extensive experience with embedded systems and their applications.
• Extensive experience in requirements analysis and ability to elicit and analyze business functionality.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional experience with bench testing and validation.
• Professional fuel system controls experience for diesel engines.
• Demonstrated capability with complex problem solving.
