The Control Systems Specialist, as part of the Engineering Services department at the ExxonMobil Baytown Refining and Chemical facilities, will interface with a diverse team of personnel such as manufacturing plant operations and technical/engineering (Safety, Instrumentation, manufacturing process experts, applications engineers, etc.), to maintain a variety of process control systems including Honeywell Experion, TDC3000, TDC2000, and Windows-based workstations and servers. This role involves providing technical and operational expertise for the day-to-day support of the process control systems and infrastructure, troubleshooting control systems hardware and software failures for Honeywell and Microsoft systems, and participating in projects to replace servers, develop new networks, and improve control system sustainability. The Control Systems Specialist will also be responsible for complying with all ExxonMobil standards, such as Process Control Practices, documentation, Management of Change, and design review procedures. The ability to respond, via telephone mainly and occasionally in person, to off-hour callouts and requests for support is essential. The role requires a willingness and ability to be part of a team, being the systems specialist on a business team to inform that team about systems projects, repairs to the system, and system health. The position involves being part of a group of 20+ Engineers and Specialists maintaining and improving process control systems at one of the 5 facilities across the Baytown area. Good cybersecurity habits like patching, antivirus updates, and access control to the system are expected, along with effective communication skills in written forms (e-mail and presentations) and verbally in team settings with peers, other engineers, and business team members to represent your work or ideas. The role also emphasizes a willingness to learn and intellectual curiosity, as much of the learning is on-the-job and through peer-to-peer learning, with hardware-specific training available.
