About the position

The Controls Technician at Coherent Corp. is responsible for the routine and emergency maintenance of electrical, electronic, and pneumatic equipment used in wastewater treatment processes. This role involves performing inspections, testing, adjustments, calibrations, and servicing activities to ensure the proper operation of process instrumentation and control systems. The technician will work independently on complex assignments and collaborate with engineers and other technicians on various projects, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work in compliance with safety, environmental, and Facilities department policies and procedures.
  • Support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
  • Respond to Facility Work Orders from building occupants.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments.
  • Perform acceptance tests of new equipment and inspect installations for conformance with specifications.
  • Perform original design work for analog and digital system modifications.
  • Prepare or modify operating and maintenance procedures and order supplies.
  • Inspect, evaluate accuracy, and calibrate transmitters and controllers used in process control systems.
  • Support complex troubleshooting of facilities equipment and associated failures.
  • Train personnel on equipment maintenance and update PM documents as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or Technical/Associates Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years hands-on work experience with maintenance, calibration, and repairs of building automation systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems to the board level and make repairs including system and panel level programming.
  • Thorough working knowledge of control systems and plant operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of pneumatic controls, thermostats, receiver-controllers, and related control devices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
