About the position

The Controller position is a critical role within a leading commercial construction contractor located in Chandler, Arizona, offering a competitive salary range of $100K to $130K. This position is designed for an experienced professional who will work closely with the CEO and oversee all accounting and financial functions of the company. The Controller will be responsible for the direct supervision of the monthly close process, billing clients for services provided, managing accounts receivables and payables, preparing budgets, and conducting quarterly tax projections and annual tax return preparations. This role is essential for ensuring the financial health and compliance of the organization, as well as for implementing effective financial processes and controls. In this role, the Controller will implement a process to record transactions by department, allowing for a comparison of costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centers. The position requires a thorough review and recordation of journal entries to accurately reflect monthly activities, as well as a comprehensive review of the monthly accounting close process. The Controller will prepare monthly financial statements, year-to-date cash flow reports, and related footnotes, ensuring that all financial information is accurate and timely. Additionally, the Controller will gain proficiency in the company's ERP/MRP software and support the implementation of new technology and automation. This includes assisting in the development of corporate policies and procedures related to invoice processing, cash management, and fee calculations. The role also involves ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and conducting proper analytical reviews of asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow perspective. Responsibilities

  • Implement a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centers
  • Review and record journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity
  • Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, year-to-date cash flow and related footnotes
  • Gain proficiency in the company ERP/MRP software and support the implementation of new technology and automation
  • Assist in the implementation of corporate policies and procedures such as invoice processing, cash management and calculation of fees
  • Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Accurate and timely production of all financial information
  • Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA license preferred
  • Experienced working in the manufacturing industries or building products
  • Able to prioritize and work with multiple supervisors including CFO and CEO
  • Good GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
  • Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
  • Able to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex legal and financial information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/MRP software
