About the position

The Controller position is a hands-on role within a solar company located in Surprise, AZ. This is a 1099 contract position that requires expertise in accounting, particularly within the construction industry. The Controller will oversee the accounting department's activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements, and will play a key role in internal control policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for month end close, including booking journal entries
• Monthly inventory reconciliation process
• Review / reconcile account balances
• Assist with regulatory and financial reporting
• Assist with monthly / quarterly tax payments, including sales tax
• Oversee tax and audit preparation to comply with all levels of government reporting requirements
• Assist with the development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures
• Coordinate and assist with the external audit
• Supports and assists with the internal audit function and ongoing SOX compliance requirements
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned

Requirements

• Strong and extensive knowledge of US GAAP
