About the position

The Controller position is a hands-on leadership role within a manufacturing company located in Marietta, Georgia. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and managing day-to-day accounting functions. The Controller will mentor a team of four direct reports and will play a crucial role in strategic decision-making, financial forecasting, and compliance with GAAP. This position offers a clear path to the CFO role, making it an excellent opportunity for candidates with extensive accounting experience looking to advance their careers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Directly handle all general ledger journal entries, month-end close, & annual audits.
  • Oversee teams handling AR, AP, & billing.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all transactions and manage daily financial activities.
  • Create budgets and forecasts - Report on variances, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Provide financial insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure GAAP-compliant financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with department heads to monitor performance and make recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial analysis to evaluate ventures and special projects.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and insurers.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, financial forecasting, and acquisition integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including past Controller roles, is required.
  • Accounting experience in the manufacturing or service industry is required.
  • Team management experience is required.
  • Computer savvy, including strong experience with ERP systems & Microsoft Excel, is required.
  • Experience with GAAP, budgeting, financial reporting, & financial statements is required.
  • Ability to temporarily handle after-hours monthly close process until 2025 ERP update is required.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site is required.
