About the position

The Controller/Accountant/CPA position at Village Fuel involves managing financial operations for retail and wholesale gasoline stations, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in accounting practices. The role requires extensive experience in accounting, particularly in the petroleum industry, and proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing payroll, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations, among other duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and other financial documents.
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards.
• Maintain financial records and reports, including quarterly financial statements.
• Prepare reconciliations to general ledger accounts.
• Complete monthly and quarterly sales tax returns.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Perform quarterly EPA RINS returns and low carbon fuel standards reports.
• Conduct research on industry regulations and upcoming laws.
• Manage vendor correspondence and verify billing accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and QuickBooks Online.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
