About the position

The Controller position at JM TEST SYSTEMS LLC is a critical role responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records. The Controller will be tasked with researching and correcting discrepancies in general ledger account balances, preparing and distributing financial statements, and addressing any outstanding issues with division or department managers regarding their financial reports. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Controller will assist in the completion of selected periodic sales and production reports as assigned. This may involve collaborating with various departments to gather necessary data and ensure that reports are accurate and timely. The Controller will also play a key role in year-end financial audits, annual insurance renewals and audits, and periodic tax filings. This aspect of the role requires a proactive approach to assessing current accounting operations, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate general ledger account balances including all supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Research and correct discrepancies in G/L account balances.
  • Prepare and distribute financial statements.
  • Resolve outstanding issues with division/department managers related to their financial reports.
  • Assist in completing selected periodic sales and production reports as assigned.
  • Assist in completing year-end financial audits, annual insurance renewals and audits, and periodic tax filings.
  • Assess current accounting operations and offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or a division of a large corporation.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Sage ERP and Sage Intelligence.
