About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller/Bookkeeper with Mortgage Banking experience to join our team. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting our financial operations in a full-service mortgage banking environment. The position offers flexibility and the opportunity to contribute significantly to our financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including transactions, ledgers, and accounts.
  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial documents.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure consistency with internal records.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, summaries, and statements.
  • Timely submission and processing of payroll.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding payments and accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Financial reporting to counterparties.
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to support financial operations.
  • Provide support during audits and financial reviews.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Mortgage Banking as a Controller/Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (including AMB, QuickBooks) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in real estate mortgage/lending industry is a plus.
