About the position

We are in search of a Controller to join our team in Rutland, Vermont. This role involves the management of financial reporting and analysis, internal and external audits, and regulatory reports. The position also includes overseeing team members and facilitating software implementations. The Controller will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial operations, while also contributing to the strategic growth of the company through effective financial management and reporting. In this position, the Controller will be responsible for preparing and filing quarterly regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner. They will manage both internal and external audits, ensuring that all financial statements and reports are in order. The Controller will oversee the financial reporting and analysis process, providing critical financial and operational information to the team. Additionally, they will lead and manage a team of 4-7 employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment. The role also requires facilitating software implementations and managing multiple mergers, aligning with the company's growth and development strategies. The Controller will work to reduce the number of days for the month-end close process and financial reporting package preparation. They will utilize their skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Excel Formulas, MS Excel, and Accounts Receivable (AR) for daily tasks and reporting. Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws is paramount, as is the development and implementation of financial control procedures and systems. The Controller will enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems to support the company's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file quarterly regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Controller role or similar position
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Excel Formulas
  • Expertise in MS Excel and Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and concise reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience in financial forecasting and risk analysis
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred
  • Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making
  • High proficiency in public speaking and presenting financial data.
