As a Controller with YPTC, you will have the opportunity to work with nonprofit organizations, transforming their financial departments to help them meet their missions. This role requires a hands-on approach, as you will serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple clients, providing them with essential financial reporting for management and Board decision-making. You will also recommend and implement improvements to accounting operations, internal controls, and compliance policies, ensuring that our clients adhere to best practices. In this position, you will be responsible for transactional activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. Additionally, you will engage in analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting, grant management, and funder reporting. You will prepare for and manage annual audits, and provide training opportunities for both clients and staff. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non-profit clients.
  • Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
  • Provide financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.
  • Handle transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining workpapers.
  • Conduct analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage grant management, allocations, and funder reporting.
  • Prepare for and manage annual audits.
  • Provide client and staff training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5-7 plus years accounting experience.
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and be responsive on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems.
  • Non-profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nonprofit accounting or consulting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various GL packages beyond QuickBooks.
