About the position

The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance for a fast-growing Construction Services Company specializing in Commercial Asphalt and Concrete Paving Projects. This role involves providing strategic insights and financial analysis to support profitability and sustainable growth, working closely with the executive team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and cash flow management.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis to support business planning and decision-making processes.
  • Monitor project costs, analyze variances, and identify opportunities to optimize expenses and improve profitability.
  • Conduct financial analysis, performance metrics, and trend analysis to assess business performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, filings, and reporting requirements.
  • Implement and streamline financial processes, controls, and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term financial strategies, investment decisions, and risk management initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team members, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Support special projects, initiatives, and ad hoc analysis as required by senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial management and accounting, preferably in the construction or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control techniques.
  • Experience with ERP systems, financial software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, with the ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.
