About the position

The Controller - Corporate Finance at WellSpan Health is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, producing and reviewing monthly financial statements, and managing day-to-day cash operations. This role involves supervising accounting staff, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and preparing annual tax filings, all while maintaining the integrity of the accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and assists general accounting staff in recording and posting transactions to the general ledger and preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Supervises accounts payable staff and ensures that controls over disbursement of funds are maintained.
  • Monitors cash balances, invests excess cash, and reconciles investment accounts.
  • Facilitates and/or prepares annual budgets in coordination and liaison with operating managers.
  • Directs and assists in the preparation and filing of returns for federal, state, and local income taxes, mercantile taxes, and payroll taxes.
  • Ensures maintenance and integrity of accounting systems.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred upon hire.
  • Courses and training in accounting/finance are required upon hire.
  • Strong cost finding and analytical skills are necessary.
