About the position

Vander Hyde Mechanical, a family-owned business located on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids, is seeking a motivated Accounting Manager / CPA that has a desire to work in the private sector. Vander Hyde Mechanical is a growing leader in the residential and commercial Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical trades and has proudly been in business for over 35 years! Integrity, technical expertise, and high-quality service are the guiding principles of the Vander Hyde team. The Accounting position is responsible for planning and directing the accounting operations of the company.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions.
• Establish internal controls, guidelines, and processes for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
• Manage tax planning throughout the fiscal year and file corporate tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Provide financial analysis with a focus on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Present recommendations to management regarding short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
• Assist outside auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents for the annual audit.
• Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintain knowledge of accepted accounting practices and procedures.
• Reconcile accounts, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
• File required quarterly and annual reports.
• Prepare prevailing wage employee benefits and complete certified payroll.
• Oversee 401(k) plan and retirement plan tax filings.
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
