About the position
NOW CFO is seeking a Controller for an apparel company in Irvine, CA. The Controller will oversee financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity of financial statements, effective internal controls, and adherence to regulatory requirements, while also guiding financial strategy and managing accounting functions. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both in-office and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
- Drives transformation and efficiencies in controls and accounting systems.
- Manages consolidations in a multiple entity environment and reviews monthly segmented management financials and consolidated financials in accordance with GAAP.
- Implements consistent accounting/tax policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards.
- Coordinates and prepares internal and external financial statements.
- Actively participates and supports the full month-end close cycle including AP, AR, Cash, Financial Statement preparation, and other ad hoc reporting as required.
- Collaborates with other business units to gather financial information for monthly close.
- Coordinates monthly reconciliation/consolidation efforts to report accurate and timely data.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements
- BA or BS in Accounting required.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 7 years or more of related experience required.
- Experience in the consumer products industry required.
- Must demonstrate competency with US GAAP accounting.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
