About the position

The Controller at Diablo/Freud Tools is responsible for overseeing the financial results of the company from both a legal entity and consolidated perspective. This role supports various teams, including sales, marketing, and new product development, by providing financial analysis and advice. The Controller will conduct gross margin and product cost analysis, assist with month-end closing activities, and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. This position also involves collaboration with the European headquarters on financial processes and the implementation of new tools and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial results of the company on both legal entity and consolidated views.
  • Support sales, marketing, and new product development teams with project calculations and financial topics.
  • Perform gross margin and product cost analysis, understanding manufacturing cost implications on financial statements.
  • Provide financial advice to management based on analysis.
  • Assist the financial analyst team with month-end closing activities, ensuring correctness of postings versus budget.
  • Conduct analysis of monthly results compared to prior months and forecasts.
  • Report and analyze cost center expenses and prepare controlling journal entries.
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy in all financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly results (sales, margin, and profitability) on a consolidated view.
  • Communicate financial results with senior management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Perform product cost analysis from different manufacturing locations.
  • Assist in the preparation of new tools and financial concepts.
  • Handle other projects and duties as assigned, including long-term planning and headquarters reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of successful experience in controlling.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Advanced problem-solving ability to identify discrepancies and implement solutions.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial statements and budgets.
  • Adaptability to implement technology changes and shifting business needs while maintaining financial integrity.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with teams and management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different departments to gather necessary information.
  • Proven efficiency in time management to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
